Investigators are trying to find the drivers of two cars that may have been racing in connection with a crash on Interstate 595 that killed a Davie resident who was subsequently struck by a third car.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Julie Michele Castor, 18, of Davie, survived the initial crash but was later struck and killed by a motorist while standing next to her car.
About 11:53 p.m. Wednesday, Castor was driving a 2006 Toyota Corolla westbound on I-595 just east of University Drive. Witnesses told troopers that one of two cars that appeared to be "racing in and out of traffic" may have changed lanes in front of Castor – causing her to lose control of her car.
