Harried restaurant workers. Thirsty jail inmates. Irritated residents.
As a boiled-water order for Fort Lauderdale and nearby cities enters its third full day, people are coping with the inconveniences while hoping that relief comes soon. The city of Fort Lauderdale, whose water system serves several surrounding communities, says water tests expected to be completed Tuesday afternoon may allow the Florida Department of Health to lift the order.
In the meantime, people are dealing with the hassles of living without a convenience that's normally taken for granted.
At Gran Forno Pronto in downtown Fort Lauderdale, staff has resorted to boiling water and making trips to the supermarket for gallons of bottled water, said restaurant manager Erika Del Rio.
