PROVIDENCE, R.I (March 22, 2016)—After posting a 3-0 record in singles and a 2-1 doubles record, sophomore Jessica Cortes Chaves earned her first Player of the Week award, the conference announced Tuesday.
Chaves was instrumental in all three of the Bulls’ wins over the last week, playing each match at the premier spot. The sophomore won two of her three singles matches in straight sets, giving up just three games in her match against Anastasia Reimchen of Iowa. Against Brittany Huxley of Middle Tennessee, Chaves battled back from a first set deficit to clinch the win for the Bulls with a gusty three-set victory that included a third-set tiebreak.
