Mark Kingston, who guided USF's baseball program back to prominence in three seasons as coach, formally accepted the same position at South Carolina on Friday.

Kingston, 47, replaces Chad Holbrook, who resigned earlier this month after the Gamecocks missed the NCAA tournament for the second time in three seasons. Kingston will earn $475,000 annually in base salary at South Carolina over six years, up from $140,000 he was receiving at USF. He can make up to $600,000 per year with incentives.

South Carolina will also pay his $150,000 buyout to USF.

"I had a tough conference call with my players at USF this morning," Kingston said during his introductory press conference Friday.
