TAMPA (Nov. 12, 2015)— On the first day of competition at the ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championship, Roberto Cid fought hard to force a third set, but ultimately fell in the first round of play.
Facing Ohio State’s Mikael Torpegaard, Cid fell behind 5-0 in set one, before rattling off three straight games to pull within reach. Cid dropped the first set and fought a gritty second set, pulling out a 7-6 (5) win to force a third and keep his championship hopes alive. In the final set, the pair were tied at 4-all before Torpegaard held serve and forced a break to take a 6-3, 6-7, 6-4 victory over Cid.
