TULSA, Okla., May 25, 2016-- Roberto Cid battled through a gritty three-set opening round to advance to the round of 32 at the NCAA Tournament Wednesday morning.
Cid, the No. 2 seed in the tournament, defeated Felipe Soares of Texas Tech, 4-6, 6-0, 7-5. The senior from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic is no stranger to three-set victories, dominating in set two and pulling out a back-and-forth win in set three.
“It’s a huge win for me," Cid said. "This is the first match I’ve finished in a couple of weeks. I knew coming into today it was going to be a tough match.
