Chaves Seals Match, Bulls Secure 4-3 Road Win

TULSA, Okla. (Feb. 28, 2016) – In a match that lasted over four hours, the USF women’s tennis team secured its first road win of the season, defeating No. 68 North Texas, 4-3, Saturday afternoon at the Michael D. Case Center.

After dropping the doubles point, the Bulls (2-4) came out determined in singles play. The deciding match of the day came down to court one, featuring USF sophomore Jessica Cortes Chaves (Monterrey, Mexico). In a three set marathon match, Chaves defeated her opponent 6-3, 6-7 (3-7), 6-3, and clinched the win for the Bulls.

USF also saw impressive performances from junior Olga Martinez (Barcelona, Spain) in the two spot and freshman Nicole Dzenga (Harare, Zimbabwe) in the six spot.
