At this point of the USF basketball program's exhibition tour of Spain, the men's and women's respective fortunes have mirrored those recently experienced in their own continent.
The women, likely a preseason top-25 pick this fall, earned their second victory in as many days Wednesday in Guadalajara with a 117-55 annihilation of CREF HOLA, a Spanish club team. The men fell to 0-2 with a 90-71 loss to the Angola National Team, ranked 16th in the latest FIBA ratings.
Sophomore Maria Jespersen and freshman sharpshooter Kitija Laksa scored 22 each Wednesday for the Bulls women. A 6-foot Latvia native who astounded practice observers in Tampa with her accuracy, Laksa finished 8-for-12 from the floor, hitting three of her six 3-point tries.
