The USF football running back room is the land of opportunity. Jobs are there to be earned. Strong impressions can be made on a daily basis.
It's also the land of competition — fierce competition.
"These are passionate, prideful people who know that the minute you let up, you might be falling behind,'' said Matt Merritt, USF's assistant head coach/run game coordinator.
Heading into the April 14 spring game at Corbett Stadium, it's anyone's guess who has the upper hand. But Merritt said he's pleased with the mix of experience and youth in the backfield, which provides the fuel for Alex Golesh's high-octane offense.
