Prior to signing with the Braves, Barbosa posted a 2.81 ERA and struck out 59 batters in 51 innings with the Long Island Ducks of the independent Atlantic League. Barbosa started his pro career with Arizona after being selected in the 36th round of the 2012 MLB June Amateur Draft.
