Baton Rouge, La. (Feb. 17, 2017) – The USF women’s tennis team saw a two-game winning streak snapped, as the Bulls fell to LSU, 6-1, Friday.
The Bulls lost the doubles point, and went into singles where they would face three opponents ranked in the Top 65. No. 63 Joana Valle Costa struck first for LSU in singles, defeating Juliana Cardoso in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0. However, senior Vera Bessonova would answer with a 6-0, 6-3 win over Abby Owens in the No. 6 spot to put the Bulls on the board.
Up by two, the Tigers needed just two more singles wins to take the match, but the Bulls put up a tough fight.
