GEORGE TOWN, GRAND CAYMAN, NOV. 27, 2019 – Haanif Cheatham scored a game-high 26 points and Dachon Burke added 21 as Nebraska captured third place at the Cayman Islands Classic Wednesday evening with a 74-67 victory over USF.
Nebraska used 60.9 percent shooting in the second half, and a 13-0 run midway through the period to erase a seven-point deficit and storm to a 59-53 lead with 9:10 to play. Cheatham scored six in that run and Burke had five as the Huskers took the lead for good.
USF, behind a team-high 16 points from David Collins (Youngstown, Ohio), chopped the Nebraska lead from eight down to one point, 63-62, with 4:00 to play, but Burke hit back-to-back 3-pointers and four made free throws in the final 40 seconds to seal the victory.
