USF has confirmed the transfer of former Plant High standout Austin Hudson, a Wisconsin safety who appeared in all 14 games for the Badgers last season.
Primarily a special-teams performer at Wisconsin, Hudson must sit out the 2015 season per NCAA transfer guidelines. Described as an "amazing athlete" by Plant coach Robert Weiner, he already has enrolled at USF and will have three years of eligibility remaining.
At nearly 6-foot-3 and 205 pounds, he could evolve into the "husky" (i.e. nickel back) in new defensive coordinator Tom Allen's 4-2-5 scheme.
"There's not a lot of guys who have the athletic combination of things that he does," Weiner said.
