USF sophomore 2B Coco Montes, who hit .421 (8-for-19) during the Bulls' 5-0 week, has been named American Athletic Conference Player of the Week.
Montes went 1-for-3 with a walk and scored the game-tying run (on a passed ball) in the ninth inning of USF's 4-2 upset of FSU in Tallahassee on Tuesday. In a four-game weekend sweep of winless Miami (Ohio), the Miami native recorded two multi-hit games, going 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs in Sunday's 11-2 rout.
Montes enters this weekend's three-game home series against Toledo hitting a team-best .400 and riding a six-game hit streak.
