Jeffery London used his prestige as a youth pastor, charter school disciplinarian and unofficial foster parent to sexually abuse underage boys over many years, federal prosecutors told jurors Tuesday, shortly before they received the case.
"Under the guise of providing a safe haven for these boys, this defendant, Jeffery London, preyed on these innocent victims," Assistant U.S. Attorney Francis Viamontes told jurors shortly before noon in closing arguments in federal court in Fort Lauderdale.
The young boys were particularly vulnerable, she said, because many of them had nowhere else to live and were dependant on London for a home and basic requirements like food and clothes.
