One of Broward County's smaller cities, Hallandale Beach, is poised to be among the first to adopt body cameras for police — unless red tape and political posturing get in the way.
The police chief, city manager — whose husband is a retired cop — and four city commissioners are on board, even though police union leadership says the rank and file are not.
"With all the incidents going on around the country, I think we need them," Commissioner Bill Julian said this week. "The nation wants the cameras. So bring it on."
