After building one highly respectable men's soccer program in Florida, Bob Butehorn has been commissioned to build upon another one.
Butehorn, who erected the program at Florida Gulf Coast from scratch and led the Eagles to four NCAA Tournaments in the past seven seasons, has been hired to replace George Kiefer as coach at USF. Kiefer stepped down in November to accept the same job at N.C. State.
The futbol hiring by athletic director Mark Harlan comes a week after his football hiring, of Charlie Strong.
“Bob Butehorn has been tremendously successful winning, recruiting and developing student-athletes in the state of Florida," Harlan said in a USF news release.
