The leaders of Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church in Fort Lauderdale released a statement saying they were "saddened" at the revelations that led to the resignation of their pastor, Tullian Tchividjian, grandson of Billy Graham.
Tchividjian quit his position Sunday after acknowledging an extra-marital affair, which he said came about after he was "heartbroken and devastated" to learn that his wife had been having an affair, saying he "sought comfort in a friend and developed an inappropriate relationship myself," according to a statement he gave to The Washington Post.
The church, one of the most prominent in South Florida, largely due to the prominence of its late pastor James Kennedy in conservative politics, released this statement:
"Several days ago, Pastor Tullian admitted to moral failure, acknowledging his actions disqualify him from continuing to serve as senior pastor or preach from the pulpit, and resigned — effective immediately.
