Attacker kicks, stomps woman's head in Pompano store robbery, deputies say

A 55-year-old man is facing an attempted felony murder charge after a store clerk had her head kicked and stomped during a robbery, the Broward Sheriff's Office said.

Employee Sayeda Haque was opening the Discount Beverage food store at 900 E. Atlantic Blvd. in Pompano Beach at about 7:30 a.m. Sunday when Melvin Wilder walked in claiming he was there to fix a beverage cooler, according to the arrest report.

Without warning, Wilder punched the woman in the face, knocked her to the floor, and starting kicking and stomping on her head, face and stomach with his construction work boots, the report stated.
