Texas A&M’s trip to Gainesville on Saturday is noteworthy for two reasons. First, it’s the Aggies’ first-ever visit to Gainesville. Second, A&M becomes the final SEC team this season to play a true road game in league play.
The Aggies have reason for optimism: Since they’ve joined the SEC, only Alabama, Georgia and Florida have posted better records in the conference when playing in hostile territory.
Since the SEC expanded to 14 teams in 2012, only six teams have gone 4-0 on the road in conference play. Five of those reached the SEC championship game in Atlanta (Alabama in 2012, ’15 and ’16 and Missouri in 2013 and ’14).
