COLUMBIA — Torrential thunderstorms which rolled through Columbia on Monday night evidently damaged the aluminum sign on the front of Williams-Brice Stadium, according to social media posts.
Two South Carolina football recruiting staffers posted photos on Twitter showing part of the block C and tail feathers missing from the lighted Gamecocks logo that sits atop the stadium’s elevator shaft. Trees were downed and some roads flooded after thunderstorms brought high winds and dropped as much as five inches of rain on some parts of the city.
The Gamecocks were scheduled to host their first practice of preseason camp Tuesday morning at USC’s practice complex across the street from the stadium.
