It’s hard for Will Muschamp to do anything at South Carolina without being compared to predecessor Steve Spurrier. Now, that even includes Muschamp’s real estate purchases.
The State newspaper in Columbia reports that Muschamp has bought Spurrier’s condo near Williams-Brice Stadium for $130,000. It is a one-bedroom, sixth-floor unit at the Carolina Walk complex.
Spurrier and his wife, Jerri, spent $221,212 on the condo when the complex first opened in 2006. He was offered a discount to buy, as with then-Gamecocks baseball coach/current athletic director Ray Tanner and then-basketball coach Dave Odom. In exchange, the coaches had their picture used on advertisements outside the building to influence sales.
