As a junior at South Carolina, Grayson Greiner led the 2014 Gamecocks with eight home runs.
Across five minor league seasons, the catcher had gone yard 30 times.
Now, he’s got his first Major League home run for the Detroit Tigers.
In the bottom of the seventh against the Chicago White Sox on Friday night, Greiner worked the count to 2-2 and then launched a fastball 367 feet. It wasn’t enough to rally his team in a 7-3 loss.
The Blythewood High School alum is in his second season with the Tigers.
