The Birmingham Bowl could feel like a home away from home for USF interim coach T.J. Weist as the Bulls prepare to face South Carolina on Thursday.
Weist said he’s hoping to pass along “the Alabama way” that he learned while playing for the Crimson Tide in the 1980s, as reported by Birmingham-based TV station WVTM.
Weist is no stranger to Legion Field, where USF will meet the Gamecocks in Thursday’s contest. He played as a reserve wide receiver for Alabama under Ray Perkins and Bill Curry from 1985-87, when the Crimson Tide regularly played the Iron Bowl in Birmingham.
