COLUMBIA — A South Carolina football player is recovering after being shot multiple times during an incident outside a Columbia apartment complex which caters to USC students.
True freshman defensive end Shameik Blackshear of Bluffton was shot in the upper and lower body Wednesday night at an apartment complex near USC’s baseball facility. Although Columbia police have identified the victim only as an 18-year-old, South Carolina head football coach Will Muschamp confirmed Friday to The (Columbia) State that Blackshear was the victim.
“He’s doing well,” Muschamp told the newspaper. “Right now we are just concerned with his health, but as far as I’ve been told, he’s doing well.
