It’s been quiet around these parts, but there are still a few things happening behind the scenes to note for y’all: South Carolina’s brass talks the financial impact of COVID-19, a few Gamecocks have put their names into the transfer portal, and men’s basketball picks up a new non-conference opponent.
Look, I certainly don’t want to be thinking about this, but — should football season not happen this fall, or even be reduced in some way, this could set off an unfortunate chain reaction through the rest of the athletic department. Cincinnati has dropped men’s soccer and Old Dominion has discontinued wrestling, and more of those decisions could be coming down the pipe as the weeks roll on under the coronavirus pandemic.
