ESPN - Phil Steele’s SEC forecast is out, just in time for SEC Media Days. ($) Steele breaks down all 14 teams and predicts who he thinks will be the team on top at the end of the season. Also, if you can’t beat them, join them: Melanie Balcomb, who was terminated from her post as the head women’s basketball coach at Vanderbilt in April, has come on board with the Gamecocks as a “director of analytics”. Balcomb will not take part in on-court coaching; I’m interested to see how long she sticks around and if she’ll take another post if someone else comes calling.
