South Carolina softball will be making its second trip to an NCAA Super Regional after surviving a pair of elimination games Sunday.
Gamecocks sophomore Cayla Drotar hit a two-run home run in a 2-0 victory over Liberty on Sunday afternoon and was the winning pitcher in Sunday night’s decisive game, a 5-0 victory over the Flames that gave South Carolina the championship of the Columbia Regional at Carolina Softball Stadium.
The Gamecocks have only been to one previous Super Regional. That came in 2007. South Carolina (49-15), the tournament’s No. 9 seed, will be matched against the winner of the Tempe Regional.
