COLUMBIA — Zack Bailey is still so new to college football, he’s taking part in his first spring practice. But he’s done so much in such a short period of time at South Carolina, he’s already in position to take on a leadership role.
It’s part of a continued rise for the Summerville High School graduate, named to the SEC All-Freshman team last season after starting five games, three at center and two at left guard. In the spring, he’s a projected starter at left guard on an offensive line that lost mainstays Brandon Shell, Mike Matulis and Will Sport, and is looking for new leaders to take charge.
