COLUMBIA — He came to South Carolina as a guard. Weeks into his college career, he was pressed into learning center. Now Zack Bailey is closing in on becoming a five-position player on the Gamecocks’ offensive line.
The former Summerville High School standout has also been honing his skills at tackle, adding another degree of potential flexibility to an offensive line already loaded with it. Bailey made five starts last season, three at center and two at guard, and is the likely starter at left guard for the Gamecocks in 2016.
“He’s kind of our Swiss army knife,” said senior left tackle Mason Zandi.
