SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — There will be no return trip to the women’s Final Four for South Carolina.
Alexis Peterson scored 26, and fourth-seeded Syracuse rallied from a 13-point deficit to stun the top-seeded Gamecocks 80-72 in a regional semifinal of the NCAA Tournament on Friday night at the Denny Sanford Premier Center.
The Orange (28-7) will play the winner of Friday night’s second game between No. 3 seed Ohio State and No. 7 seed Tennessee in the regional final at 3:30 p.m. Sunday. The Gamecocks finish their season at 33-2, and denied a second trip to the Final Four in as many seasons.
