Last season was not fun for Steve Spurrier. Opening last season with a Steve Spurrier-esque beat down from Texas A&M did not leave him with the start most in Columbia expected. Continuing on to a 7-6 season that featured late game collapses and poor defensive showings obviously frustrated the Head Ball Coach. Spurrier admitted to relinquishing play calling duties. He also made the notorious 2 to 3 years comment. The poor season combined with that comment lead to several decommitments in what was shaping up to be one of his best recruiting classes top to bottom. It would be easy to carry over frustrations into the next season, and dwell on what happened last season.
