South Carolina and USF will face off in the 2016 Birmingham Bowl at Legion Field in Birmingham, Ala., on December 29.
The Gamecocks (6-6) exceeded most expectations by reaching a bowl game in their first season under coach Will Muschamp. Of their three conference wins, two came against other bowl teams – Vanderbilt and Tennessee.
The Bulls (10-2), who began playing football in 1997, already have set a record for most wins in a season.
The team have played, when the Gamecocks won 34-3 in 2004.
Overall, the Birmingham Bowl will be South Carolina’s 21st bowl appearance in school history.
