South Carolina tops Georgia in wire-to-wire fashion

South Carolina’s 64-57 win over Georgia on Saturday came in wire-to-wire fashion.

No matter how many times the Bulldogs (11-5, 2-3 SEC) got close, the Gamecocks (11-6, 2-3) had an answer. The result gives USC its first road victory since Nov. 27 at Florida International and ends UGa’s perfect run at Stegeman Coliseum this season.

Georgia, down eight at halftime, tied USC three times in the second half, but never pulled ahead. Frank Booker hit two huge 3-pointers in the final 3:15 to allow Carolina the necessary breathing room.

The final of Booker’s treys stretched the Gamecock advantage to nine with 1:22 left.
