Five Gamecocks scored in double figures and Chris Silva led the charge to power South Carolina to a late rally against the Ole Miss Rebels, surviving 85-84 in the SEC Tournament’s opening day of action in St. Louis on Wednesday. It was the Gamecocks’ first win in the event since 2015.
Silva scored 21 points to go with 11 rebounds as he set a career high in made free throws (13) and netted his 1,000th point as a Gamecock. Frank Booker matched him offensively with 21 points of his own, followed by Justin Minaya (16), Maik Kotsar (14), and Wes Myers (10).
