It looks like South Carolina will have a new helmet in 2016.
Gamecocks senior left tackle Mason Zandi shared an up-close view of the team’s new black helmets on his Snapchat account Thursday.
The helmets, which were first seen in April, are expected to be worn this season. South Carolina traditionally wears white helmets but also debuted a white alternative helmet and a garnet helmet last season.
According to TheBigSpur.com, the latest Gamecocks helmet, which has a matte finish, comes at the urging of first-year coach Will Muschamp.
Of the school’s available helmets, only the white alternative ones don’t have the South Carolina “C” with the Gamecocks mascot logo on them.
