South Carolina has picked up its first commitment of the new year.
The State reported Sunday that three-star offensive tackle Jordan Rhodes committed to the Gamecocks.
Rhodes, from Creekside High School in Fairburn, Georgia, was on an official visit at the school when he made his decision.
The 6-foot-6, 300-pound Rhodes joins three-star offensive tackles Dennis Daley and Eric Douglas as offensive linemen commitments in South Carolina’s 2017 recruiting class.
Overall, Rhodes marks the Gamecocks’ 23rd commitment in the class, which 247Sports ranks 15th nationally and seventh in the SEC.
In addition to South Carolina, Rhodes, who played football for the first time this past season, had offers to Mississippi State and Missouri.
