South Carolina hires interim offensive line coach for Birmingham Bowl

One week after losing its offensive line coach to another job, South Carolina found another Thursday – on a temporary basis.

South Carolina coach Will Muschamp said that the team has brought on longtime assistant John Latina to fill the role on the coaching staff over the next two weeks as the Gamecocks prepare to play South Florida in the Birmingham Bowl on Dec. 29.

Muschamp said he will a hire new, full-time offensive line coach after Jan. 1 following Shawn Elliott’s departure to take the Georgia State head coaching job.

“We’re still talking to people, and want to make sure we take our due diligence and hire the best fit for us,” Muschamp said.
