South Carolina forward Aliyah Boston has been named NCAA Division I Freshman of the Year following the conclusion of the Women’s Basketball season.
Boston was ranked as the No. 3 prospect in the country last year before signing with the Gamecocks in 2019. In her first year on campus, she averaged 12.5 PPG and 9.4 RPG. She finished second on the team in scoring, while leading the team in rebounding and blocked shots. Her 86 blocked shots are the fourth highest single season total in program history.
Boston was a Day 1 starter for Coach Dawn Staley, cracking the top five in all 33 of the Lady Gamecocks’ contests this season.
