After a lackluster offensive performance on Friday night, it was much of the same for South Carolina on Saturday, as they were shut out for the first time this season.
Much like Friday night’s game, Saturday’s was scoreless for a number of innings, until Texas got on the board in the fifth, taking a 2-0 lead on a pair of solo shots by Peyton Powell and Mitchell Daly. The only other run of the game came in the bottom of the eighth inning, when a balk forced one in.
While the Gamecocks had multiple chances to score, they repeatedly were unable to capitalize, which wasn’t exactly encouraging.
