South Carolina’s coaching search is in full-bore mode as the school looks to replace Steve Spurrier, but the new guy won’t be Houston’s Tom Herman.
A report from Yahoo Sports says Herman no longer is a candidate. Insiders tell GN that while Herman was the top candidate for Gamecocks officials, he no longer has interest. Alabama defensive coordinator Kirby Smart long has been thought to be the No. 2 guy on South Carolina’s list, and those same insiders say Smart is interested — as long as the job at Georgia doesn’t come open.
