Insiders tell GN that Shawn Elliott — who had been South Carolina’s interim coach in the wake of Steve Spurrier’s resignation — will be the only assistant from Spurrier’s staff retained by new Gamecocks coach Will Muschamp.
He will be the offensive line coach, the same position he held under Spurrier.
As GN reported Sunday, Muschamp’s coordinators are expected to be Kurt Roper (offense) and Travaris Robinson (defense). Roper was Muschamp’s OC at Florida in 2014 and has spent this season as an offensive assistant with the NFL’s Cleveland Browns. Robinson was Muschamp’s secondary coach at Florida and held the same role at Auburn this season.
