COLUMBIA — The South Carolina women’s basketball team won’t have to travel far to try and win a third consecutive SEC Tournament.
The 2017 event will be played March 1-5 at Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, according to a report in the Greenville News. A formal announcement is expected at 11 a.m. Monday.
It will mark the first time the event has been played in South Carolina since 2005, when the tournament was also held in Greenville. Bid-based conference tournaments shied away from the Palmetto State due to the NCAA moratorium in place before the Confederate flag was removed from the statehouse grounds last year.
