“Do I watch much college football?” Bill Oliver said. “Too much.”
Most days, “Brother” Bill wakes up at 4:30 a.m. and plops in front of a TV to dissect games recorded the previous Saturday. The 76-year-old retiree — best known for innovation while a defensive coordinator at Alabama, Auburn and at Clemson under Danny Ford — takes to analysis with the zeal of his prime years as a game-planner and mentor.
“I put a lot of hours into what I did, I guarantee you that,” Oliver said by telephone from his home on Lake Martin near Alexander City, Ala.
