COLUMBIA — When South Carolina opens its 2016 baseball season, the Gamecocks will do so not in Carolina Stadium — but in Founders Park.
The USC Board of Trustees on Friday approved a naming rights agreement with Founders Federal Credit Union, a company based in Lancaster which will place its name on the Gamecocks’ baseball stadium. The facility has been called Carolina Stadium since it opened in 2009.
Details of the multi-year agreement will be announced Thursday, according to USC. Columbia’s newspaper reported the deal to be worth $7 million.
South Carolina’s baseball team has been among the most successful athletic programs on campus, winning back-to-back national championships in 2010 and 2011.
