South Carolina baseball nearly let a sterling performance from junior starter Reid Morgan go to waste Saturday, but a pair of clutch home runs in the bottom of the ninth rallied the Gamecocks for a 3-2 win.
Morgan has yet to pitch on a Friday so far this season, but he has clearly established himself as the No. 24 Gamecocks’ ace, and he continued to do so Saturday, throwing 8 2/3 innings while striking out 10 and surrendering seven hits and two earned runs.
USC (12-3), meanwhile, was handcuffed on offense by Crusaders starter Jon Tieman, who went eight innings, giving up six hits and no earned runs.
