Kelvin Taylor’s 53-yard burst on third-and-8 with 2:41 remaining set up a 1-yard touchdown run, and dashed the Gamecocks’ comeback hopes of upsetting No. 11 Florida. South Carolina closed the gap with a pair of fourth-quarter touchdowns, but was left with a 24-14 loss Saturday before an announced crowd of 78,536 at Williams-Brice Stadium.
South Carolina (3-7, 1-7 SEC) will suffer its first losing season since going 5-7 under Lou Holtz in 2003.
