COLUMBIA — With three experienced returning players and two former walk-ons recently placed on scholarship, South Carolina has no shortage of running backs. But the Gamecocks will wait to make a decision on potentially redshirting true freshmen A.J. Turner and Mon Denson.
“It’s too early to tell,” USC running backs coach Everette Sands said after Tuesday’s practice. “As I tell those guys, the easier way to get on the field early is on special teams. And I think both of them are putting themselves in positon to help us on special teams. And then if they’re playing, we’ll see where they are as far as running back is concerned as well.
