COLUMBIA — While South Carolina players are in class Thursday starting the fall semester, Gamecocks coaches will begin the process of piecing together a depth chart in advance of USC’s season opener in two weeks.
That means the players who will get the majority of the snaps going forward are those most likely to contribute Sept. 3 against North Carolina in Charlotte. To this point head coach Steve Spurrier and his staff have tried to spread out the repetitions, especially among units like quarterback, receiver, and offensive line where the Gamecocks have a wealth of unproven players.
“We definitely are coaching way too many guys right now to try and be polished,” Spurrier said after practice Wednesday.
