With Hurricane Matthew approaching, South Carolina’s game with Georgia is in trouble and South Carolina governor Nikki Haley reportedly “can’t imagine” it can go ahead as scheduled.
Haley said Tuesday that she “can’t imagine” the Gamecocks playing as scheduled against Georgia, The Post and Courier of Charleston, S.C., reported.
“That’s a decision based on the schools, but as of now I can’t imagine that happening,” she said.
Earlier Tuesday, the South Carolina athletic department said it was monitoring the Category 4 hurricane — which is expected to be off the coast of the Carolinas on Saturday — but did not have immediate plans to change the status of the game.
